The method involves introducing a liquid decontaminating agent into oil contaminated soil (18) or contents of a storage tank subsequent to drilling of an injection lance (20). The liquid decontaminating agent is introduced at an exhaust velocity of larger 50 m/sec, preferably of larger 100 m/sec into the soil or the contents. The liquid decontaminating agent is introduced at pressure of larger 400 bar, preferably of 600 bar into the soil or the contents. The liquid decontaminating agent is injected over a nozzle (22) of the injection lance.
