The device (1) has a drive shaft (AW1) driven by a drive motor (9) i.e. electric drive motor, where rotational speed of the drive shaft is transferred to rotation speed of another drive shaft (AW2). A controller (2) i.e. PID controller, compares rotation speed alteration of the former drive shaft with a predetermined maximum permissible rotation speed alteration of the former drive shaft for the computation of a controller output signal (RA). A rotation torque delivered from the drive motor to the former drive shaft is controlled in dependence on the controller output signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a powertrain for a vehicle (2) a method for compensating a gearwheel clearance of gear wheels of a gear box.
