The machine has a rotor (1) arranged on a rotor shaft (3) and comprising a rotor laminated core (2) and an excitation winding. The excitation winding is embedded into a plastic mass (6) using an injection molding method. A functional component of the rotor is molded on the rotor using the injection molding method and is designed as an end winding cover (5), an impact element and a transmitter wheel of a rotor position transmitter. The functional component comprises a plastic coating for producing a firmly bonded connection with the plastic mass and is made of plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a rotary electric machine.
