The injector (100) has an injector housing (110) connected with a supply line (125) for injecting fuel. First and second valves (140, 145) are provided between the injector housing and an outer valve needle (120) to control fluid connection between the line and two spraying holes (130, 135). A third valve (150) is provided between the outer valve needle and an inner valve needle (115) to control fluid connection between the line and one of the holes. The outer valve needle is adapted to simultaneously close the first and second valves. An insert is mounted on the outer valve needle. The outer valve needle is made of steel, and the insert is made of a non-ferrous metal.
