The unit has a pressure plate (24) i.e. pressure container, for clamping a clutch disk (36) between the pressure plate and a counter plate (32). An operating element (56) i.e. operating pot, moves an actuator device (42) for moving the pressure plate. The pressure plate is connected to the return spring i.e. leaf spring or leaf spring assembly, for positioning the pressure plate in an initial position. The return spring comprises a retaining stop for limiting movement of the operating element away from the pressure plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a friction clutch.
