The device (1) has first- and second legs (101, 102) whose respective ends (E101a, E102a) rotatably coupled such that the legs are hinged at an angle. A third leg (103) is arranged between the first- and second legs and comprises an end (E103a) that is coupled with the ends of the first and second legs. A fourth leg is coupled with the first- and third legs. A fifth leg is coupled with the second- and third legs such that the third leg is arranged on a bisector (W) of an angle between the first- and second legs when opening the first- and second legs. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a center between support points in a vehicle.
