The friction clutch assembly (11) has a friction clutch (13) with clutch basket (12) and ball ramp arrangement. The ball ramps (24,25) are provided with ball (21) moved with respect to the support plate (23) and pressure plate (19). An axially movable thrust washer (20) is rotated relative to the support plate and pressure plate. The thrust washer is acted upon relative rotation of support disc (22) on the pressure plate to a lever mechanism (16). The lever mechanism actuating the friction clutch mechanism is arranged between the pressure plate and clutch plate (14).
