The slave cylinder (1) has a housing (2) in which a piston (3) is mounted in axially displaceable manner and a piston rod (5) engaged with the piston through retaining elements (8). A retaining ring (10) is engaged with the retaining elements arranged on piston rod. The housing has a stopper (11) operatively connected to the ring, for limiting the axial movement of piston. The ring has a diameter (A2) in force-free state. The retaining elements are arranged around the outer periphery of the ring and have a diameter (B) which is larger than the diameter of ring.
