The device e.g. hearing instrument (9), has an electrical radiation numerator circuitry including a semiconductor detector (1), an amplifier (2) for amplifying a detector output signal, and a comparator (3) for comparing the amplified output signal with a threshold value. The semiconductor detector is formed as photodiode i.e. PIN photodiode, and arranged for space direction-dependant detection by radiation. The photodiode is arranged in an opaque radiation-transmissive housing. The circuitry is connected with a loud speaker (5), an LED and a battery.
