The device (8) has a guide device, in which upper and lower hinges (5, 6) are linearly displaced, and a displacement element comprising a helical displacement trajectory coupled with the hinges. The hinges are displaced by the helical displacement trajectory dependant on a movement of the displacement element relative to the hinges. The displacement element is formed as a cylindrical disk and rotated at an axis (A). The axis is oriented vertical to a displacement path (P1) of the hinges. The displacement element is rotatably mounted at the guide device. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting a position of a hinge of a door of a household appliance.
