The actuating device (10) has a clutch cover with a plate spring (16) for pressing a clutch plate between a pressure plate (14) and a counter-plate. A thrust bearing is directly or indirectly supported on a support spring (24) for removal of the forces acting on the pivoting range of the plate spring. A diaphragm spring (30) is arranged between the support spring and the plate spring in axial direction. The diaphragm spring and the plate spring are spaced-apart form one another in the contact areas (31a,31b) in the radial direction. An independent claim is included for a friction clutch.
