The powertrain has a torsion damper (82) connected to an internal combustion engine. A housing e.g. automatic transmission housing, encloses a disconnect clutch, an electric motor and a transmission gearing. A drive shell (62) i.e. annular unit, surrounds a mounting plate torque converter (18), and includes an input connected to the damper and a tubular output (68) connected to the clutch. The clutch and the motor are located between the torque converter and the gearing. The damper is located between the engine and the torque converter. A stator (S) is mounted on a stator shaft (40).
