The system (100) has a base station (102) transmitting challenge to a transponder (104) over one of communication links (106) and arranged in a vehicle. Other communication link is established with the transponder and connected with a capacitive connection (108). A response on the challenge is received over the former communication link with the transponder, and the latter communication link is scanned to detect a signal that corresponds to another response on the challenge from the transponder. The transponder is authorized on the basis of the responses on the challenge. The transponder is selected from an active transducer and a passive transducer. The communication links are selected from near field communication, Bluetoothcommunication link, capacitive link, wireless local area network communication link, ZigBeecommunication link, or communication protocols. An independent claim is also included for a machine-readable non-transitory memory medium with a set of instructions for performing an operation of a wireless data exchange system.
