The method involves dividing a sample of a collagen material and subjecting the divided portion of sample to a strain measurement in which force required to cause preset deflection is measured. The remaining divided portion of sample is treated with a skin cosmetic, and is subjected to strain measurement in which force required to cause preset deflection is measured, after preset time of treating the sample with skin cosmetic. The ratio of deflection forces is determined and the efficacy of skin cosmetics is judged based on size of the quotient of deflection forces.
