The system has an analog-to-digital converter (12) for receiving a sensor signal to represent a physical measured parameter and producing an output signal based on the sensor signal and voltage reference (V-REF1). The converter alternatively receives calibration voltage instead of the sensor signal and generates the output voltage based on the calibration voltage and the voltage reference. A microcontroller (18) controls the converter when the calibration voltage is received instead of the sensor signal. The microcontroller compares the output signal based on the voltage and the reference. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring variation of voltage reference of a converter.
