The method involves initially heating a plasticizing connecting element (13), and deformed by a form punch (11). Thermal energy is uniformly supplied to the connecting element in a supply air flow (17) for heating the connecting element. The supply air flow is supplied to the connecting element in a closed system so that only the connecting element is heated up. The remaining thermal energy is discharged from the connecting element in a discharge air flow (20). The supply and discharge air flows are conducted into respective supply air channels (16) and discharge air channels (19). An independent claim is also included for a device for connecting objects.
