Multi-speed transmission for motor car, comprises a distribution mechanism which includes a differential assembly such as a pinion/gear assembly that provides front-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive modes for the motor car
The multi-speed transmission (10) has several planetary gears (14,16,18,20), and several torque-transmitting mechanisms (26,28) selectively engageable to ten forward speed ratios and one reverse speed through the gears. A torque converter such as starter (70) is connected to an input shaft (12), and a distribution mechanism (90) is coupled to an output shaft (22) for transferring output torque to distribution mechanism. The distribution mechanism includes a differential assembly e.g. pinion/gear assembly (102) which provides front-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive modes for motor car.
