The method involves providing fluid conduit pressure to a gear box (11) by opening a fluid passage (14) if an engine (13) is switched on. A valve is opened via an electronic controller (44) to collect active fluid of the fluid conduit pressure in a pressure reservoir (18) if the engine is switched on. The valve is closed via the electronic controller to restrain the fluid in the reservoir if the engine is eliminated. The fluid is applied from the reservoir to the fluid passage if the engine is again started such that a complete gear box operation is provided without delay. The valve is designed as a two-way valve, a ball check valve (34) and a poppet valve (40).
