The camera (20) has a light run-time sensor (22) i.e. PMD-sensor, comprising a pixel array, where the camera receives preferred light polarization. A lighting unit (10) radiates a polarized light that is produced by a light source (12). A polarizing filter (28) is arranged in an exit beam of a lighting unit. The lighting unit and the camera are arranged in a common housing. A beam shaping optical system (15) of the lighting unit is formed as a reflector. A receiving optical unit (25) improves imaging properties of a set of optical elements. An independent claim is also included for a lighting unit for a light run-time camera system.
