Method of stripping of keratin fibers, preferably human keratin fibers such as hair, dyed with oxidation dyes and/or direct dyes, comprises implementing a composition obtained by extemporaneous mixing of (a) an anhydrous composition comprising at least one sulfinic acid derivative (I) and (b) an aqueous composition having a pH of less than 5, where the pH of the mixture of the compositions (a) and (b) is = 5. Method of stripping of keratin fibers, preferably human keratin fibers such as hair, dyed with oxidation dyes and/or direct dyes, comprises implementing a composition obtained by extemporaneous mixing of (a) an anhydrous composition comprising at least one sulfinic acid derivative of formula (R1O-S(=O)-CR2R3-R4) (I) and (b) an aqueous composition having a pH of less than 5, where the pH of the mixture of the compositions (a) and (b) is = 5. R1 : H, NH 3+ion, monovalent metal ion or one divalent metal ionic equivalent of groups Ia, IIa, IIb, IVa and VIIIb the periodic system of elements; R2 : OH or NR5R6; R3 : alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aryl (optionally substituted by 1-3 substituents of OH, 1-6C alkyl, O-1-6C alkyl, halo or CF 3) or H; R4 : COOR1, SO 3R1, COR5, CONR5R6, COOR5 or H (when R3 is optionally substituted aryl); and R5, R6 : H or 1-6C alkyl. An independent claim is included for multi-compartment device for stripping artificial color from keratin fibers dyed with oxidation dyes and/or direct dyes, comprising: a first compartment comprising the anhydrous composition (a); a second compartment comprising the aqueous composition (b); optionally a third compartment containing a dye composition; and further optionally a fourth compartment containing an oxidizing composition.
