Method and installation for the extraction of a wheel of an axle of a railroad vehicle

The method involves piercing a sheet (18) of a wheel (15) near a hub (16), where the wheel is mounted on a wheel seat of an axle (10) of a railway vehicle. A cutting (30) is carried out from piercing transverse to the hub to relieve stresses at a level of the hub, where overall length of the cutting is 400 mm and distance between the cutting and the wheel seat ranges between 10 to 20 mm. An axial force is applied to interior of the wheel to remove the wheel from the axle. An independent claim is also included for a system for removing a wheel from an axle of a railway vehicle.
