The device (14) has mail boxes (12), and large-sized racks (16) and small-sized racks (18) for receiving a parcel (20). A lock locks the rack, and a control unit controls the lock. A selection unit selects a recipient of the parcel and controls unlocking of the lock by the control unit. An identification unit formed of a digital keypad (28) and a screen (30) identifies the recipient and controls the unlocking of the lock by the control unit. The identification unit activates the selection unit. A video recording unit e.g. video camera, records delivery and/or removal of the parcel in the rack. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for delivering a parcel into a rack device (2) a method for receiving a parcel delivered into a rack device.
