The method involves performing data-post processing of four stereoscopic images by searching a stereo-pixel corresponding to a pixel of the first image in the second image at a reference time. The pixel of the first image in the image pairs is monitored by correlation. The stereo-pixel corresponding to the pixel of the first image is searched in the second image at a monitoring time. Displacement of the first pixel between the reference time and the monitoring time is determined so as to determine displacement or deformation of a rotating body. An independent claim is also included for a device for characterizing modal/service deflected shapes of a rotating body.
