The method involves pivoting a crankshaft (2) about its longitudinal axis such that a crank pin is in contact with a head (3a) of a connecting rod. Other crank pins (4b, 4c) are pivoted about its longitudinal axis such that the crank pins are consecutively placed in contact with other heads (3b, 3c) of the respective connecting rod. A set of crossheads associated with the crank pins is held in contact with the respective crank pins. The crankshaft is released for fitting into bearings of a housing (1). An independent claim is also included for a device for installation of a crankshaft on its bearings in a casing of an engine.
