The appliance has a body enclosing a chamber for washing and/ or drying, and including an opening equipped with a door (2) having an outer panel (5) against an inner panel (6). The door includes two attachment devices (13) of the inner panel on the outer panel, where the attachment devices are placed on either side of the door. Each attachment device includes a retainer (14) formed in one panel, and an engagement member (15) formed in the other panel, where the engagement member engages the retainer by translation of the panels against each other. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a domestic appliance for washing and/or drying.
