The method involves closing a filling opening of a flexible container with a sealing element (1), where the opening is formed by a tube portion. The sealing element and the opening are assembled using a welding process e.g. thermal welding process and ultrasonic welding process, and a bonding process without heating contents of the flexible container, where the sealing element comprises an elongated portion (9) that forms a chuck for co-operating with the tube portion during the welding process. A tubular portion (11) is formed at an end of the sealing element. The sealing element is designed as a stopper, a quarter turn stopper, a socket or an injection area. An independent claim is also included for a sealing element.
