The seat (1) has an armchair formed of a base (2) and a backrest (3) provided with a head (4), where a distance between the base and the head is adjustable between two distances according to size of a child. A control unit (C) controls installation of the seat. The unit permits and/or prohibits one of road facing position or opposing position with road, according to the distance between the base and the head. The unit includes a variable component authorizing and/or preventing displacement of the armchair relative to the base toward one of the two positions.
