The method involves calculating propagation of a wave portion emitted by a source (3) e.g. acoustic energy source, and providing a set of virtual sensors (2). A measurement of characteristic data portions of the wave portion is performed for each virtual sensor. A predetermined field (1) is partitioned into a set of sub-areas (10 1-10 4), where each area comprises one virtual sensor. An allocation of two sub-areas is performed between multiple distinct threads.
