The system has a sensor (110) for detecting thermal or neutron power generated by a nuclear reactor (100). A detection unit (120) is utilized for calculating a difference between the detected thermal power or neutron power, and predetermined driving power for calculating a control input. A filtration unit (130) is utilized for limiting a rate of change of thermal or neutron power to a predefined range to calculate a final control input. A power control unit (140) is utilized to adjust position of an adjustment bar by reception of the final control input. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting power of a nuclear reactor.
