The bed has a rectangular frame comprising cross-pieces (13, 14) connecting longerons (11, 12), and a bed base (3) carried by the frame by a lifting device. The lifting device has an inner brace (C1) placed inside an outer brace (C2). The device has an electric actuator (23) whose end is articulated on one of the cross-pieces of the frame, and an opposed thrust end of the actuator is connected to an operating beam (22) fixed on the outer brace. A transmission mechanism comprising a curved ramp (26) and a roller (27) is placed between the thrust end and the beam.
