The cage (18) has connection bridges (22) structurally connecting annular side rings (20) to make the rings integral and to form open receiving spaces. A free radial circumference (36) presents radial thickness for a reinforcement (36c) to define free peripheral zones (36a) and junction zones (36b). The peripheral zones are intended to be free from any functional contact with an interior ring (12) and an external ring (14) of a bearing unit (10). The junction zones form an off-hook by reducing radial thickness of the side rings and connect the peripheral zones to the bridges. The junction zones present an alveolar concave form. An independent claim is also included for a bearing unit.
