The method involves declaring a virtual printer driver in place of a printer driver associated with a printer (105), and receiving, by the virtual printer driver, a print order of a document i.e. sales receipt. One or more controls are received to obtain data to be filed and contained in the sales receipt. The obtained data to be filed is transmitted to a smartphone (106) having storage capacities, where the receipt includes barcodes attached to products listed on the receipt, and the barcodes are transmitted to the smartphone. An independent claim is also included for a system for filing data in a document to be printed by a printer at a retail outlet.
