The method involves receiving a speed value of a vehicle. A correction parameter value of luminosity is estimated according to received speed value to control power supply of a projector of a lighting system to reduce electrical consumption of the projector at low speeds. A value of distance between the vehicle and a target vehicle is received, and another luminosity correction parameter is estimated according to the received distance value. A maximum speed limit beyond which the electricity consumption related to the system remains unchanged is estimated according to the distance value. An independent claim is also included for a control device for a lighting system of a vehicle.
