The method involves providing a maintenance tool (1) to maintain an end piece (4), where the tool includes a groove (5) forming housing with two side thrust surfaces to receive the end piece, and is made of electrically insulating material. The thrust surfaces are adapted to block rotation of the end piece inside the groove. A connection strand (2) is connected to the end piece by tightening a perforation screw of the end piece until rupture of a fuse head of the screw. The screw is covered by a screw mask (9) after tightening of the screw and rupture of the fusible head. An independent claim is also included for a maintenance tool for connecting an end piece to a connection strand.
