The method involves duplicating a coded data stream (207), and receiving quality information (208) contained in real-time control protocol (RTCP) packets relative to transmission of the coded data stream to a recipient, where the information is transmitted according to RTCP transport protocol. Network disturbances are applied (209) to the duplicated data stream based on the information to provide a modified data stream. A video reconstructed from the modified data stream is displayed (212). A parameter relative to video communication between a transmitter and a recipient is adapted (213).
