The device has a generating unit (14) for generating a magnetic field to guide a fragment (12) to a receiving zone (16) based on a nature of the fragment. The generating unit comprises a vertical separation channel (20) that is delimited by two adjacent magnetic fields generating elements (18), where each magnetic fields generating element is arranged with respect to each other and generates a magnetic field in the separation channel. The separation channel is arranged with a top of the receiving zone.
