The box has a base (10) comprising a support portion (12) for supporting a food substance e.g. soft cheese. A vertical peripheral flange assembly (13) is located outside of the support portion. A cover (20) is arranged with a bell-like side wall (23) for defining sides of an inner cover (25) and outer cover (23a). The support portion is raised relative to the flange assembly and is connected to the flange assembly by a circumferential connecting portion (14) fixed against a face of an internal edge. The connecting portion is surrounded in a closed position by a face of the inner cover.
