The device has a water discharge channel (300) conveying water from a windscreen into an engine compartment. The discharge channel has a water overflow end in form of an elbow (315) located in the compartment. A cover (400) is located below the water overflow end of the channel so as to form a lower cavity of the cover, where the cavity houses an electric element e.g. energy storage capacitor (200) safe from the water poured through the discharge channel. The cover is fixed on an inner wall of a wing of the vehicle, and the capacitor is housed under the cover.
