The installation has a table (1) defining a surface (101) for supporting a tunnel box (20) to be cut, and a tool (2) having a cutting edge (3) placed in a cutting plane transverse to the surface formed by the table. A clamping unit includes a jaw-carrier (4) movable upwardly and downwardly relative to the table, so as to occupy a low position in which it forms two jaws (5) for clamping the tunnel box. The jaws mounted on the jaw-carrier are movable in a direction toward or away from each other along a direction orthogonal to the upward and downward direction of movement of the jaw carrier. An independent claim is also included for a method for cutting a U-shaped or L-shaped tunnel box.
