The cage (18) has multiple connection bridges structurally connecting two side crowns. The connection bridges are regularly distributed on a circumference of the side crowns so as to define open reception spaces to accommodate convex-shape rollers (12). The two side crowns form an external radial positioning and an internal radial positioning so as to support a clearance of the cage in rotation around a radial axis (B-B), perpendicular to an axial axis (A-A) when the cage is in position between an external ring (14) and an internal ring of a bearing unit (10). An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a bearing unit.
