Method for compression of digital signals output from synthetic lateral aperture radar, involves performing differential quantification on frequency coefficients of digital signals, to reduce cost of coding high frequency coefficients
The method involves performing a differential quantification on frequency coefficients of digital signals output from a synthetic lateral aperture radar (SLAR) (8), so as to reduce the cost of coding high frequency coefficients with respect to low-frequency coefficients. The differential quantification is performed by filtering the frequency coefficients of the signals in a filter (11), and quantifying the filtered frequency coefficients in a quantifier (12). The frequential coefficients are obtained from Fourier transform of an image block consisted of raw data output from the SLAR. An independent claim is also included for a device for compression of digital signals output from of a sensor with synthetic opening.
