The distributor has a cleaning product tank (12) comprising a wall (14) directed towards bottom, where the wall has a hole (16). A fixing unit i.e. hook (24) fixes the tank to an edge of a toilet basin. A porous mass (18) blocks the hole, so that a surface (18-1) of the porous mass forms a part of the wall of the tank, and another surface (18-2) of the porous mass, which is opposed to the former surface, is placed in a path of flushing water when the distributer is fixed on the basin. The tank is formed from a transparent material. An independent claim is also included for a method for distributing a cleaning product in a toilet basin.
