The device (1) has lower and upper arms (7, 10) articulated to allow movement of a stretcher transfer support (13) through an access opening, between a loading/unloading position and a transfer position. The transfer support is outside of a transport vehicle for loading or unloading of a stretcher on the transfer support, in the loading/unloading position. The transfer support is placed inside the vehicle for the transfer of the stretcher between a stretcher frame of the vehicle and the transfer support, in the transfer position.
