The system (1) has a metallic support (3) mounted in top of a backrest and on a metallic structure (2). A metallic sleeve (4) is mounted on the support to move between an inactive position in which the sleeve is vertical and an active position in which the sleeve is raised and inclined, so that an upper end of the sleeve is moved forward relative to a lower end. The sleeve fittingly receives a sheath (7) that slidingly receives a stem from a headrest. An actuation device (10) actuates the sleeve in the active position. A detection unit detects projection of an occupant of the seat toward back.
