A planting container 1 comprises a plurality of upstanding walls 6 defining an enclosure for containing plant growing media such as soil. The walls define a plant growing space and have an inner surface defining the interior of the enclosure, an outer surface defining the exterior of the container and an upper edge 8 defining an opening perimeter 10. A plurality of support sections 12, 16, 18 are provided that are connected to the upstanding walls and arranged about the outer surface of the enclosure outwardly of the opening perimeter. The plurality of support sections are configured by means of apertures 14 to receive and support a corresponding plurality of elongate support members such as plant canes in a substantially vertical upright orientation.
