Scheduling a User Device for half-duplex or full-duplex operation based on the self-interference cancellation capability of the device

Characteristics of a User Equipment (UE) relating to self-interference cancellation capability of the device are analyzed and reported to a Base Station (eNB). The base station schedules the user device for half-duplex or full-duplex operation based on the self-interference cancellation capability of the device. Characteristics of the device may include transmission power levels, and may be analyzed in light of minimum sensitivity requirements. Aspects of the invention include: the UE providing an indication to the eNB of its maximum transmission power level for a specified transmission frequency band; the UE providing self-interference cancellation capability information to the eNB in the form of a UECapabilityInformation message; the message may indicate a device class of the UE which relates to the self-interference cancellation capability of the UE. Embodiments of the invention include an apparatus for use in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) station or access point, the apparatus comprising a processing system arranged to: determine if a station/ access point has full-duplex capability; and indicating to a WLAN station that the station/access point has full-duplex capability.
