A relay node comprising a backhaul link to a first D-eNB, wherein, following handover of the backhaul link to a second D-eNB, the relay node is operable to enforce access class barring for UEs supported by the relay node to restrict tracking area update signaling. The first D eNB and the second D-eNB belong to different tracking areas. The access class barring may use barring cause ac-barringforMO-signaling to restrict tracking area updates. The relay node may be a mobile relay node mounted on a vehicle. Other methods of reducing tracking area signaling for UEs using a mobile relay station are disclosed, such as a UE checks whether a cell id has also changed when a tracking area has changed, if so, it sends a tracking area update or a relay node maintains a unique tracking area identity even when the backhaul eNB changes tracking area.
