PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of determining the disease suppressing effect of agricultural land and material to be put into the agricultural land in a simplified manner by observing the growth of a plant pathogen, and also to provide a crop cultivation system for quickly taking the countermeasures against the disease by applying material with a high degree of pathogen suppressing force on the basis of the determination.SOLUTION: A method according to the present invention measures on an agar medium the pathogen suppressing force of all kinds of material including soil, compost, and soil conditioners. A crop cultivation system can be built which is capable of estimating the risk of occurrence of a disease, selecting material with a high degree of pathogen suppressing force, and applying the material to the agricultural land to thereby decrease the occurrence of the disease and increase the crop yield, thus contributing to agricultural production.
