PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a laminated ablator with a larger area than that of the conventional one without impairing excellent lightness and heat resistance.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a thermal protection composite material comprises the steps of: impregnating felt-like reinforced fibers 32, for instance, with a thermosetting resin 31 to obtain a composite material sheet 30; forming a laminate 20 by laminating a plurality of the composite material sheets 30; superimposing and mounting a plate-shaped molding jig on the laminate 20, and then adjusting the thickness; and subsequently heating and pressurizing the laminate 20 with an autoclave. Thereby, a laminated ablator 10 is obtained, which is the thermal protection composite material.
