PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper conveying device capable of suppressing a determination error of occurrence of a multi feed.;SOLUTION: A paper conveying device 100 includes: an ultrasonic signal output unit 115, which is provided in the vicinity of a conveying path of a sheet, detecting an ultrasonic wave passing through the sheet to output an ultrasonic signal; a multi feed determination unit 155 to determine whether or not a multi feed of the sheet has occurred on the basis of the ultrasonic signal; a sound signal output unit 141 to output a sound signal corresponding to sound generated by the sheet during conveyance; and a control unit 151 to perform abnormality processing on the basis of a multi feed determination by the multi feed determination unit. The control unit regards that a multi feed has not occurred when the sound signal output unit outputs a predetermined sound signal even if the multi feed determination unit determines that a multi feed has occurred, and controls the device not to perform abnormality processing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
